He’s a big-picture guy who is also an avid science fiction and fantasy fiction reader and enthusiast. The genre fuels his creative mind, even as far back as his college days. After devouring the Conan series, John decided he would come up with his own adventures. Writing became his saving grace.
He joined The Creation Factory Writer’s Workshop, and his knack for generating a lively tale matured. He became known for his sophisticated skill of weaving several storylines into an exciting saga. Multiple degrees led him to a cutting-edge career in IT and cloud systems. His work world is a deep dive into everything high-tech, with intriguing hints of the future—interesting fodder for one so imaginatively inclined.
John has several novels to his credit . . . as-yet-unpublished, but we’re working on that. He’s written for educational and technology journals, presented solo and took part as a panel member at professional writing conferences and Comic Cons, adapted a novella for NPR’s Sci-Fi Radio series, and is a longtime member of a small local authors group.
Leanne Yarrow's professional background includes Elementary and Gifted Education as well as Specialized Senior Care Program Development, training, and implementation. Those worlds tend to be fairly grounded and are 'as real as it gets.'
She admits, the leap into the fantastical science fiction and time travel realm has taken some time and adjusting, but she's observed that both situations demand much creativity, specificity, adapting, and solid communication.
A detail-oriented person, Leanne's ‘devil’s advocate’ role regarding her husband's writing has evolved through the years, ranging from a purely proofreading standpoint to an editorial perspective, then into a true collaborative partnership covering all aspects of the writing process. She brings clarity, fresh insights, incredible imagery, and an emotional resonance to their work, and also a bit of levity at times.
Overall, she finds these new challenges an unexpected delight. And, in listening to other couples where one or both are involved in writing, she is thrilled that their marriage remains rewarding, happy, and intact.
THEIR JOURNEY TOGETHER . . .
After navigating these pandemic years virtually, the couple looks forward to once again participating in-person at writer’s workshops, classes, and conferences on the local, regional, and national levels. In their down time, they enjoy all sorts of music, books, and the arts, hiking in the great outdoors, experiencing new places, and relishing a good meal and bottle of wine with family and friends. And of course, there are so many more stories to tell!
